Clare Brass
FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT 22
Clare ran a product design studio in Milan for 19 years before becoming head of sustainability at the Design Council. She set up SEED Foundation where she ran a number of research projects for central government and funding investigation, developing user-centred entrepreneurial solutions to social and environmental challenges such as food, water and waste (www.foodloop.org.uk). She joined the Royal College of Art in 2008, connecting students from IDE and Imperial College Business School, helping students use their combined skills to address global issues. She set up and ran SustainRCA, becoming a circular economy mentor for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Alongside her work at Department 22, Clare continues to teach sustainability to business, from startups to corporates, advising on circular economy processes and thinking.
