We are very excited to announce that at 7pm(JST)/10am(GMT) on Wednesday, October 28th, 2020, we will be holding the Inspire Talks Hybrid Version. This event is presented by DLX DESIGN ACADEMY, hosted by CIC Tokyo, with an initiative that brings design education out of the campus and into the city.
Inspire Talks will be an informal affair, this time with four inspiring speakers from science and design, including a guest from Royal College of Art, London, talking about their work followed by a casual talk session.

The theme is healthcare seeds and starts up in academia and we have four speakers to tell of their current projects. Yukiko Matsunaga, who runs a specialist bioengineering research lab at the Institute of Industrial Science (IIS) at The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) will talk about the attempts to grow collaboration between researchers, designers and healthcare professionals at UTokyo to improve the lives of patients.
Also from IIS, Shunsuke Yagi of the Integrated Research Center for Sustainable Energy and Materials together with DLX Design Lab designer Flora Weil will present a current collaboration investigating new power sources for low cost disposable sensors.
We are also privileged to have a speaker, Jonathan West, from the Royal College of Art’s incubator and enterprise support department – InnovationRCA. Jonathan is a highly experienced designer and Founder of medical start-up Flomark – an innovation in intravenous drip (IV) control.
After the presentations, the four speakers will engage in a talk session fielding questions from the audience. Please note the language of each speaker (see below), translation is limited.
